Radiesse® Dermal Filler
For facial contouring
What is Radiesse® filler?
Radiesse is a slightly different type of dermal filler; a dermal filler for a liquid face lift and for hand rejuvenation. Thanks to a special gel-matrix, Radiesse® dermal filler also creates immediately visible results. Unlike Juvederm and Belotero, which contain hyaluronic acid, Radiesse® contains fine calcium microspheres which stimulate the body's natural collagen formation to create long-lasting volume – results last 12-18 months. The gel itself, as well as the microspheres, is completely broken down by the body over time.
How does it work?
Healthy young skin contains collagen that gives it volume, flexibility and strength. As part of the aging process, your own natural collagen breaks down. This loss of elasticity and volume results in wrinkles, facial lines and skin laxity that take away the youthful appearance from your face.
The treatment of individual wrinkles is often not enough to restore a youthful and fresh appearance. In order to counter the effects of gravity and regain a younger shape, the face needs real volume. This can be achieved with Radiesse® dermal filler which also re-stimulates natural collagen production for effective and lasting volume.
Radiesse® dermal filler puts volume back exactly where it was. The volumising softens deeper wrinkles, hollow or sagging cheeks disappear and jowls disappear - the natural facial contours return. It can also be used to rejuvenate hands.
Is it safe?
There have been many clinical studies of Radiesse® which confirm its effectiveness and tolerance in clients. It has been used safely in the UK and US for several years.
What can I expect during the consultation?
A full medical history and consent will be taken during the consultation and the treatment with Radiesse® will be discussed extensively, making sure all of your questions have been answered.
The dermal filler is then mixed with a local anaesthetic and a topical anaesthetic is also applied, making the procedure more comfortable.
The Radiesse® is then injected into the face with a very fine needle, instantly lifting the skin, and adding volume. Results are immediately visible. You may have some slight redness after the treatment, which normally settles after a few hours. Occasionally swelling and bruising can occur, which you can cover with makeup. This normally settles after a week or so. Avoiding aspirin, ibuprofen and alcohol prior to the treatment and soon after will minimise the risk of bruising.
The treatment takes about an hour and you can go back to normal life afterwards, feeling rejuvenated! We advise you to avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, sun beds, hot tubs and hot showers for 24 hours after treatment.
